summer in the city

about 4 weeks ago i arrived in new york city all by myself. i lugged my 49 pound suitcase up 4 flights of stairs in the mckibbin lofts at midnight june 17/18, 2013. taxi rides at midnight are funny "a nice girl like you going to bushwick? has the neighborhood changed since the past couple years?" said the cab driver. this was the start of an INTERESTING MONTH! living out of a huge suitcase and living off black coffee and parfaits is actually really fun. (i actually had a lot of eggs, sandwiches, peaches, veggies, and rice too, so don't worry!) my legs got super muscular because i had to walk up 4 flights of stairs multiple times a day. i didn't complain because i was in new york city!!!

almost all of my shoots went REALLY well. i met so many amazing people this trip who i will definitely have to keep in contact with throughout my life. i took some cool photos, pulled my first ever all nighter (at 17! damn) and fell in love with union square. i also saw two of my best friends from louisville in nyc and that was so surreal!

i did almost everything by myself. a lot of people who i met were surprised by my age and that i had just graduated high school not even a month ago. i'm really proud of myself and my mom for letting me do this trip. and i'd like to thaaaank natalie, lissy, rockie, and lauren for being cool about me living in their space!! <3 <3

i'm going to post some favorite photos from my trip.

i totally redid my book this past month. i met with people from bullett magazine, vice, and rolling stone and i can say that i'm shooting for vice sometime soon :))

i'd like to thank a few people for their amazing friendship throughout my trip. of course my roomies, then sierra, elizabeth, emily, taylor, lindsey, and hank for just showing up at my doorstep and staying the night! and a wonderful thanks to my perfect boyfriend RYAN for loving me and being perfect and our 4 year anniversary is in 5 days i think rock on!!!! and i'd like to thank my tastebuds for accepting black coffee. mmmmmmmm.

but anyways thanks for reading this, i'm not that great with words so i wish i could have articulated it better but ahh! oh well (':

ups and downs and confusing situations and confusing people but at the same time great situations and great people but also at the same time loneliness and too-expensive food, turkey is like seven dollars woah and i just don't understand it sometimes but ya gotta focus on the happy

a week

being in nyc i've realized that every experience, good or bad, is a learning experience. you can't dwell on anything for too long or look at your own work for too long. (you'll get a headache either way)
